Auditate AWS Use Case

AboutCBQA Solutions developed a cloud-based solution on AWS for AUDITATE INC. that helps companies avoid penalizations and equipment confiscations associated with audit non-compliance. AUDITATE INC. helps companies comply with The General Administration of Foreign Trade Audit which monitors and audits companie's import and export equipment. Any non-compliant companies face significant penalties and potential equipment confiscations.

The Challenge

Manufacturing businesses must organize and maintain control over all documentation related to all importing and exporting activities of their company. Currently, this entire process relies on manual data entry, keeping track of physical records, and organizing digital documentation. As a manual process, it is prone to human error that can lead to non-compliance with government requirements and regulations. This results in missing data and documentation that leads to significant fines.

The objective of AUDITATE is to create a solution that simplifies and automates this process. Its solution allows manufacturing and other businesses to control, analyze, and safeguard all documents involved in foreign trade operations for up to 5 years.

To achieve this objective, AUDITATE requested a platform hosted on AWS that was secure, scalable, and high performing. It also required a low administrative burden for managing the web app and delivering new features. As a novel tool, the solution needed to allow for:

A secure and fast time to market
A low-cost MVP solution in the early stage of the project that can scale as usage grows
A high storage capacity and high durability for all documents
Low administrative burden
High performance and High availability

The Solution

The solution proposed by CBQA uses a multi-tenant SaaS serverless model in order to reduce server costs and allow for on-demand scalability. Its business logic uses three specific AWS services to achieve these goals. Integration of API Gateway Lambdas RDS

Tools utilized

We employed several Artificial Intelligence tools from AWS such as Textract and Sagemaker allowing the solution to analyze documents and find any potential discrepancies. This provides companies with accurate and useful information at all times. Companies can rely on accurate and complete documentation to achieve compliance with all government regulations and avoid any potential fines and penalties. To safeguard the documentation and guarantee its availability long term, the solution uses AWS Simple Storage Service to securely store and archive all auditable customer documents.

In order to ensure high availability, AUDITATE makes use of the integration between API Gateway, Lambda and Cloudfront AWS Services. To ensure security and scalability, Cognito is used in the Front-End for user validation and in the Back-End for validating access to API Gateway. In addition, Cloudfront and Route 53 give protection at the edge network, while AWS Shield and Web Application Firewall (WAF) provide a layer of protection against DDoS attacks.

Finally, to promote agility and accuracy when deploying and managing infrastructure at scale, we designed and architected the application as IaC (Infrastructure as a Code) using AWS Cloudformation. This allows us to deploy Infrastructure as code to satisfy all operational excellence and automation requirements.
